Hi, got my keyone on Friday, had passport before then. Having problems with the phone turning itself off and on again. Can't pin it down to anything in particular causing it, sometimes it's when I've been using it for ten minutes, other times it's when I pick it up from being idle. Any advise please, thanks

When you say turn itself off, do you mean it re-boots?

Try a 32 second re-set. so, hold the power button for 32 seconds. time it.

It's the equivalent of a battery pull.

No, I don't have a KEYᵒⁿᵉ, but that's a standard response for all the blackdroids.

Post back if that sorts it 😀

My 2 day old KeyOne is doing the same thing. When I got it, a few keys from the keyboard were not working - W, S, L, and a few others, but after some fiddling with it they came back to life. The phone seemed to lock up during this process - the soft keys were lit up but not the screen. Last night it turned itself off at some point with 50+ % of the battery left.

My guess is there are one or more connectors inside that are not pushed in all the way, something internally is shorting out with something else, or perhaps one of the boards has a fault. As there is next to no chance of getting a replacement anytime soon, I'm going to let it fail more completely before taking it in for return.

It would appear the manufacturing of these things leaves something to be desired; I'd like to see a teardown of it to see how it is put together. However, I don't think any other device on the market (including the iPhone) is put together significantly better. I've been through a few iPhones and several MacBook Pro's due to manufacture or design faults. Hopefully the Warentee is honoured.

Gee that's not good news, eh. What country are you in?

Just for the heck of it, do you want to give the 32 second reboot a go to see if it resolves the turn off problem.

See my post above for the technique.

Also, is there a date on the KEYᵒⁿᵉ box? Production or some other date?

For what it's worth, holding down the power button for 32 seconds just seems to power cycle (turn off then on) 3 times. So the behaviour on this unit doesn't appear to be the same as the older Blackberry Androids.

A quick search pulls up complaints of Blackberrys turning themselves off at random times since at least 2009 in dozens of different models. Most of the older faults seem to be related to how the power is (or is not as the case may be) routed through the device. Given my flakey keyboard I'm guessing I have one or more hardware faults; perhaps you do too.
