After buying a second-hand Blackberry Q10, I am unable to complete the setup process. When trying to set up using Wi-Fi and connecting to a network, I cannot log in to my Blackberry ID. The message that showed up was 'The BlackBerry Protect anti-theft feature is on. Please sign in with the BlackBerry ID that was used to set up this device.' I contacted the previous owner, and even after using the same credentials, I am unable to log in, and the message is repeated. When logging on to the BlackBerry protect website, the device does not show up. What am I to do?
You have to do a full security wipe. Think of it as a Hard Drive on your home computer.
This is like someone handing you their portfolio and saying "Go ahead, steal my identity."
Well, we 'could' just take a peek and see!!
No harm in that!
Probably scorpius. [/deadpan] Is this some kind of proof of purchase dig? I'll give you the link to the auction if you're that worried about it. Will this security reset be done on a computer, or on the Q10 itself?
If previous owner provided You 'correct' email and password and You can log on, it means anty-theft protec is still on, You need to disable this feature on the phone, check out the settings. Then You or previous owner need to log in on blackberry protect web and remove manually device from the list, otherwise You won't be able to use it,
