    So I'm traveling for the first time in a year or so. Phone on a prepaid data plan. Checked my data this morning and the Amazon app downloaded 550 mb of data this morning. I didn't open the app so am a bit surprised. I can normally get a gb of data to last 6 months. Any suggestion?

    I opened app manager but saw no way to manage data usage. The app won't defeat either.

    What phone? If you're on an Android phone, look in "Power Center", you may be able to stop it from running in back ground.

    Then you can close it In the device manage If you don't need it. It will not start on its own.

    Make sure you install the most recent Amazon App Store app (ver 31.41.3900), go to Account/Settings/disable notifications, collect app usage data, parental control and in-app purchasing and MOST importantly make sure that Download Settings is on WiFi Only.

    Is it the Amazon App Store, or the regular Amazon App. BB10 has both.

    Have you downloaded apps from the Amazon App Store? Are you actually logged into an Amazon account in either app?

    If you haven't done either, then it shouldn't be doing anything.

    I'll double check with my Z10. After my last OS reload a few months ago, I didn't touch either Amazon app... logging in or otherwise. I have an Amazon account, but I don't use the Z10 as daily driver anymore, cell service is off, and running only on wi-fi, so I haven't reloaded the couple of apps I have from Amazon on it.

    Update:

    Checked the Z10, and neither app has used any data (over wi-fi, since that's all it could use) for as far back as it knows.
