When BlackBerry discontinues support for BB10 os, might BlackBerry consider releasing some 'update' that will allow BB10 owners to delete BB10 and replace with a different OS? I'm thinking of Ubuntu mobile. I don't like Android and the KeyOne is too big.

Unfortunately they don't care for their users. They have failed their most loyal customers with both the Playbook and BB10

Yes. Shame on them for only losing billions and billions of dollars on BB10.

Except BB10 was already done in 2009 - 4 years before it launched.

Marketing can only do so much if you have a crappy product, especially one that was initially released buggy and half-baked.

    And several years too late.

Even if you could install something else on a BB10 phone, it won't be Ubuntu Mobile.

Allowing PlayBook owners to install Android would have made some very happy as it would have made a great hardware set, usable for much longer.

Problem is "security" and their enterprise customers... for their sake BlackBerry isn't going to allow unlocking of the Boot Rom to allow other OS to be installed. No reason to believe they'll ever unlock the BB10 devices to allow other software. Never mind someone really has to make an image for a particular device...

    I really shake my head.

How is it that you think that BB would shell out the time and effort necessary to re-work an OLD phone so that someone could put another OS on it? For free?

    They are NOT a charity.
They are a business trying to make a PROFIT and stay alive.

It's like me buying a used GM car and then going over to the GM dealer and asking them to convert it over to a Ford motor FOR FREE. Does that perhaps strike you as a bit unrealistic?

I hope so, because that's approximately what you're asking BB to do.
