Our cottage is in a remote area in northeastern Ontario. Service connectivity is weak. Over the last year sporadic connectivity has been possible with both the 9780 and 9800, but slightly better with the 9780 - although a signal booster and external antenna pad has been required. Is there anything about either phone that would make one more preferable in connecting to CDMA service over the other? I need to purchase a replacement phone and want to pick the right one. (CDMA service is apparently good for another year....afterwards, is a new challenge.)
Neither phone is CDMA capable, they're both GSM models. I would recommend looking into which carrier is the best in that remote area, and maybe getting a pay-as-you-go SIM or some other sort of a prepaid SIM that you would use on those trips to your cottage.
Must be a better radio in the 9780 or something. But neither should connect to CDMA networks, since neither has CDMA bands. Are you sure they're not connecting to weak 2G (GSM) networks, or weak 3G networks, or that you're not roaming?
Thanks...I had assumed this was a CDMA thing because newer BB's don"t seem to work at all......now I'm not sure what the issue may be.....internal antenna connectivity?
