Blaze, what have you heard about the future counties of BlackBerry manufacture?

The US companies are being limited in shipping technology and hardware to China. Worldwide distribution of BB's will have to be made other than China.
Even though BlackBerry software is mostly Canadian origin, they likely will not bypass the US requirements.

Where do you think BlackBerry's will be born? Years ago BlackBerry had their own factories other than China.

That's not entirely what's happening. You seem to be inflating the Huawei situation way more broadly than you need to. Tariffs and such are obviously having an impact on US/China relations but we'll have to wait and see how that all plays out. For now, I don't see any BB production being shifted from China.

BlackBerry smartphones haven't been produced in Canada in years and even when they were, they were smaller production runs and now BlackBerry doesn't even handle the production, their brand licensees such as TCL do.

BB is closely associated with Google through Android. Google will support the current Android with security and other matters. After 90 days they will not support Chinese maker products which have newer Android.

The Chinese makers of smartphones have stockpiled critical US made components (such as network interfaces). At some time they will run out ... but the technology changes so fast, what happens today will be obsolete later this year.

I am looking at this from the US standpoint. (Canadians may look at this differently.)
The US President is holding fast to control of Chinese trade relations ... but likely will hove to give some leeway to concerns from Apple as a major US company.
What that means for Chinese made BB's??? Who knows.

Not really sure what you're getting at. The situation with Huawei is unique to Huawei (and to an extent ZTE) so any actions Google / US takes against them are not applicable to all Chinese manufacturers. It's standard operations for everyone else, aside from the whole tariffs situation which could impact manufacturing, but that's a sep issue which remains to be seen what will happen.

At this point Google is just one of may that might not be able to do business with Huawei and maybe eventually many other Chinese manufactures.

I think ARM is the bigger problem.... doesn't do any good if you have your own OS, if you can't buy or even make chips that will run it. They could ignore ARM's IP, but then they'd have a hard time selling products outside of China. And that would only escalate things...

In the end, Huawei would have very few products not affected.

Just wondering, with Huawei's response to develop their own OS, if that may split the dualoply.

They have as good a shot at it as BB10, Windows 10, Tizen, Sailfish, PureOS, Ubuntu, MeeGo, Firefox and probable a few other had at that.... just they are starting very late.

But I think their hardware advantage... won't overcome the lack of a supported ecosystem. How many other designs and standards out there are US based? What about music and movie video standards - most notable Streaming like Netflix, what about Activesync for email syncing?

In the end I doubt we ever seen Huawei's OS... other then maybe in some toasters. Someone will blink and back down. But I doubt we see a Huawei phone at a US Carrier anytime soon.
