Built for Business - Learn more about BlackBerry KEY2

I went to an Optus store here in Melbourne last night and asked the sales consultant on ETA for the Blackberry Passport. I was told that Optus will no longer issue this mobile phone and that BlackBerry had recalled them. Is this true? Does anyone know whether the Passport will come to Australia and if so when?

Considering the amount of misinformation that we get from carrier store staff, I'm dubious. As well, since a recall of BlackBerry devices would be considered very newsworthy I'm sure we would have heard something by now.

I am more than happy to do that. I do have to clarify that the representative told me that they had 2 passports but then BlackBerry recalled them. He suggested that I look at Harvey Norman or JB and buy it outright. I'm not sure whether he is talking on behalf of Optus or just locally at his store.

The store I went to was at the Knox City Shopping center, upstairs next to the Telstra store.

Still give Blackberry a call, who knows what might happen. They should not treat Blackberry customers in this manner. I have always hated carriers, they wish to dictate consumers buying trends. Loyal customers is what Blackberry is build upon.

It's possible they did retract them. Sometimes bad lots happen maybe they recalled a whole lot as there was a production defect

Thanks for the contact number. I left a voice-mail. Once I discuss what happened I will update everyone in this post. I do stand up for BlackBerry when possible because I believe in their product and it is my choice. Appreciate the help.

I bought mine from that store.

Sit them down and tell them you want to buy the phone. They will place an order for you. Don't leave until they take you details and order your phone.

The BlackBerry Passport is still on...I got my #BlackBerryPassport from Optus 2 weeks ago. I love it! This morning I update BBM for the new features - message retraction and timed messages.

Sounds like he was just trying to sell you a bendable phone for a higher commission

I just tweeted the Marketing Director for BlackBerry AU and she responded 5 minutes that the information is wrong. Optus store and Optus Business are the only two avenues to the Passport.

They obvious did not want to be bothered selling you the device you wanted. I cannot believe some sales people.

Just to give an update to my initial query I posted. I spoke with the BlackBerry rep and he assured me this information I received is false. He will be taking the matter further. Thanks for everyone's help and advice.
