I know this topic has been discussed before, but I really wanted to put my thoughts on this into an easy-to-read article on my WordPress site. Check it out if you're interested!

nope. I read the pros and cons part, and I feel that the author has been romanticizing a possible MSFT-BBRY partnership.

What MSFT want, is to replicate Apple's walled garden strategy. That is why until today, you never get to see a full fledged MS Office suite for the iOS (i mean the ipad) when it is technically possible, or BBRY for the matter. Look into the MSFT-GOOG fiasco when it comes to that activesync and youtube, and it makes more sense that MSFT is doing everything it can, to gobble as many marketshare as it can. They are not patient enough. They aren't content being 3rd / 4th in mobile space.

Theorically, the scenario can play it as how the writer thinks, but there is a glaring hole, in which she assumed that BBRY and MSFT are looking out for each other and scratching each other's backs. I doubt that is the matter.

First off, I'm a "he"! Haha

Second, this is a total opinion piece about how a partnership between the companies may look if they can get past focusing on their individual wants and needs and focus on how the two, together, can dominate the enterprise space and move further into the consumer mobile market that they are both trying to gain space in. I agree that they are not currently looking out for each other, nor are they scratching each others' backs, but that's because they're not fully open to the possibilities of a true partnership.

BlackBerry is known for its enterprise security strengths and solutions, as well as their stance in the consumer mobile device market (even though it has shrunk significantly).

Microsoft is known for its presence in the majority of home and office operating systems/PCs/servers (but not MDM solutions), and is starting to make serious gains in the consumer mobile device market.

Work together, good things can come, especially now that Microsoft has acquired Nokia.

That's why like I said, it may only work only if MSFT and BBRY are looking out for each other's backs.

BBRY will benefit a lot from this relationship, but as for MSFT, it doesn't benefit them much at all. In fact, my suspicion is that MSFT wants BBRY to implode before moving in strongly in the enterprise sector.
