If Prem ends up buying BlackBerry what would he need to do to get BlackBerry up and running again.
I'd say first off hire a killer ceo. Someone with the daring and boldness of a Kevin o leary. Then find the best tech marketing guru or steal them from other companies and get them working on BlackBerry 10.
Drop the prices on consumer models such as z q 10 and q5 and offer a satisfaction warranty or we give u your money back. And then come out with a high priced top security edition for the top 1 percent and top politicians and power players of the world.
Pay for native version of all key apps.
Give away free BlackBerry s to all high profile celebrities. Give away free BlackBerry s to any corporate ceo who had an interest in using BlackBerry devices in their company. Get BlackBerry devices in the hands of key characters in TV series and blockbuster movies. The next mission impossible characters or criminal minds episodes should all be using BlackBerry.
Arrange promotions where any one who buys a hybrid car or puts solar panels on roof of their house gets a free BlackBerry cause long life battery bb means energy efficiency.
There r a million things that can be done that don't cost hundreds of millions that would put BlackBerry front and center again!!!!
    Thing lee iaccocca and Chrysler.
    We need a lee iaccocca!!!!!

Agree on the prices, but have concerns about the above.

I can't imagine celebrities will simply switch from their existing devices just because they got a free phone.

    Product placement is expensive.

I am also not sure how Blackberry means energy efficiency.

So, stop selling devices - but instead just give them away.... riiiiight. Although I suppose BlackBerry is pretty close to a not-for-profit anyhow...

If Perm buys BlackBerry he is going to do so to protect his investment. He's smart enough not to throw good money (3 Billion) after a 6 month old platform that has failed (will know in a few weeks).

If sales have not taken off by then... giving away devices and try a bunch of other promotional ideas isn't going to address the other elephant in the room... lack of Apps.

Dont I've them away on mass. But get 5000 or so out to the people the set the trend. Top celebrities, top popular politicians, etc. When a large company is thinking of getting BlackBerry for employees give out a few samples to help the decision making.
Also. Every BlackBerry should come per loaded with a video tutorial on all the operation features and gestures. The video should be done by a top celebrity or comedian. Make it fun and interesting.

I wouldn't do that. Imagine the spin BlackBerry so desperate it's giving 5000 phones to celebrities for free. Then if it's anything like Alicia Keys again and they don't use the phones it's all about they got it for free and still didn't use it!

Or imagine the backlash of supporting the one percent as you said it whole the 99% have to pay full retail?

Drop the price on the phones to get them in people's hands.

If that doesn't work? Make it open source a la Google and Firefox...

I agree with giving some to celebrities. I see so many pictures of celebrities that have a BlackBerry and an iPhone, and the BlackBerry many of them have is the Bold 99xx.

The Primetime Emmy Awards are NEXT MONTH, on September 22, here in Los Angeles. If I were in ANY position in BlackBerry's marketing department, I'd have a commercial for the Z10 and Q10 ready to go, I'd get the Z10 and Q10 available at the gifting suites for the attendees/nominees. This is one of the biggest, most watched events on television in the U.S. BlackBerry didn't do anything for the Oscars or anything other than the Super Bowl (which didn't really show the devices).

A television ad here would be great because people want to watch the broadcast live. As the celebrities start using the free BlackBerrys over the next weeks/months, they'd be photographed with them... and most weekly entertainment magazines here in the U.S. do a "what's in the bag" article, where they have a quick write up on the contents of the gift bags at major events (I clearly remember them writing about the black Motorola RAZR that was given out at the Oscars ahead of a public release).

This is something BlackBerry could do NOW. They have about 5 weeks to put it together. Come on.

Other option is sell my z10 and get an android.
I'd rather try and save BlackBerry first though!!!!!!?

BlackBery needs to fire all the dead weight and other relics in the company starting with strategic management. Importantly they need to hire senior executives who have .. oh I don't know ... A CLEAR SENSE OF DIRECTION AND VISION FOR BB and who are committed to the company as a whole.

Blackberry stops competing with Appledroid and carves it's niche keypad phone market. And, they only market keypad phones in the well-known BlackBerry form factor. No more Q5 style or inane sliders. They pay to have a well selected popular apps ecosystem built for the Q types. Then pay the proper big celebrities, not Alicia Keys, but Clooney or Damon to carry one.

Scream that BB 10 is Steven Hawkins to Android and iOS's Honey Boo-Boo, that it's more secure than a tinfoil hat, has no malware, that BBM has never been hacked and has a battery that lasts longer than Ron Jeremy on Viagra. You sell it in black, white, silver and red. And you never, EVER cheese it up with Porsche design. You let everyone know that it is the best made thing known to mankind and nothing, even the HTC One is anywhere near as beautiful. And you sell it for no less than $200 on contract.

BlackBerry has to specialize and produce objects d' tech so utterly fondle-worthy that people sleep in front of the Verizon store for days or weeks waiting for it.
