BlackBerry needs her desperately. Look at what she has done with yahoo. An amazingly intelligent leader who can do no wrong. How she turned around yahoo is stunning.

She hates Blackberry so much she probably would burn a Z10 before even giving it a second chance. Many people are like that though. I was lucky to enjoy problem free BlackBerry products. I agree we need someone who can turn around this company though for sure. But not Marissa Mayer. She would laugh maniacally as she took a wrecking ball to Waterloo. haha

She's a hypocrite, she built a space to daycare her kid beside her office, and revoked telework for everyone else, including those with young children.

I wasn't aware Yahoo was alive. Didn't it die in 2008?

Yahoo can change its logo ten times over, and it still won't make it relevant. I'm still shocked that it surpassed Google in web traffic in July.

What has she really done that's so great?

She has spoken negatively about BlackBerry a couple times, I don't think she'll be looking to turn BlackBerry around anytime soon. Why would she care about them?

I'm amazed she left Google to go to Yahoo. Usually it'd be the other way around.

Well since she can't leave Google for Google what you describe doesn't make any sense, does it? Besides, you need to look at the big picture. An exec can make a difference at Yahoo that simply isn't possible at Google.

To North Americans Yahoo has been irrelevant for a while but in Asia it is still huge. I don't know how it is elsewhere though. But aside from spending tons of money, I don't know what she has done to really bolster Yahoo.

She must be doing something right because their stock price has risen nearly 100% during her tenure, from $15 to $30 a share.

RIM/Blackberry has always been a boys only club in terms of their executive. It would be refreshing to see a strong female take the lead. Shake things up a bit.

I think the OP meant "someone like Marissa Mayer".
She may have saved Yahoo and put it back on the map. Investors seem to think so at least...

all i can add is that Blackberry definitely didnt need the CEO they hired. TH means good and he has been trying really hard but he is definitely Sub Par in a market that its cutthroat and challenging more and more by the minute.

Oh... so you're looking for an executive that doesn't have insane perks above the rank and file?

    Good luck.

And Mayer does not "hate" BBRY any more than Thor "hates" Yahoo since he didn't make it BB10's default search engine. Only in BB land does "business decisions involving limited resources" equate to "hate."

Performance-wise, BBRY would kill for that insignificance.

I think what they did right is instead of hiring from within the company, or some other industry, they went and got someone straight from the company that was killing them, Google.

Imagine if the next CEO of Blackberry were an executive from Apple or Google. That would be very interesting.

Of course Yahoo had the advantage that Mayer only had to move her office across the 101. That's the advantage of being in the heart of Silicon Valley.
