Should BlackBerry go private like Dell and return to stock market after sorting out its books ? It will help reduce media glare and save precious management time, money and effort.

BB doesn't have the cash to buy out existing stockholders, so it's not really an option.

It certainly could be an option with sufficient interest from investment group(s), look how Dell achieved going private.

After mixing in his 16% ownership, valued at more than $3 billion, and another $750 million in cash, with $19.4 billion from Silver Lake and a consortium of lenders, he now controls a 75% stake in the Round Rock, Tex. company. The only investor conversation he has to have, he says, is with self.

This was already looked at and ultimately rejected. Go back in your history books a couple of years.

Private investors were interested in Dell because they generated profits and more importantly positive cash flow. More importantly the Investors saw a bright future in Dell.

BB biggest problem is their most profitable revenue stream - services is drying up quickly. Their future is in enterprise software, but this part of BB is small. If their HW division goes away and services will continue to fade BB valuation is going to be much smaller. There is far too much uncertainty in BB right now to attract big private investors.
    JeepBB and TGR1 like this.
