Forget about the past and focus on the future....

    Smartphones are the past.

Cars, IoT, Enterprise Security... those are the future.

"Enterprise security" is the past. Certainly the Blackberry's vision of it. For cars and IoT there are other strong players.

Security is never the past...it is the present and will be the future. BB is strong in this area and I believe they will outdistance the competition.

I do not see any actual strength for now. QNX connected cars turned out to be just as easy pwned as any others.

A lot of those types of hacks are actually done through the software and equipment added on by the car manufacturers. it's not a security problem per se due to QNX, but by insecure add ons. as least that is what I've read. if I can find any links, I'll add them.

How is the company NOT back on its feet?

It's making money in a NEW line of business.

    That's pretty much a win.

Remember IBM? They started out with cash registers.
Then they developed tabulating machines (predecessors to the computer).
They they jumped on the computer bandwagon.

I don't think that you can buy an IBM cash register or tabulating machine any more. Does that mean that IBM is a failure as a company?

I think that the BB CEO and board should be applauded for turning the ship around and still keeping the keyboard phone alive, as opposed to staying with BB10 and running the corporation into bankruptcy, which is where they were headed.
