    Now that Android runtime is polished I think the best solution for Blackberry is a normal qwerty BB10OS on one side and a full touchscreen Android runtime on the other. Seems legit no?

    Android runtime is an app that runs of bb10 not an OS

    Android =/= Android run time.
    I posted this on a different thread but here it is again. This is the android structure and the run time is only a component of android.

    Also the runtime is far from polished. To people who exclusively use BB, it may look polished. But to others, it's simply not.

    And where is the battery supposed to go? The phone would have to be an inch thick! Lol

    Well it is possible to get that Blackberry 10 exclusive experience. All you have to do is avoid android apps and stick with native.

    If I can get a slightly bigger screen with a legendary BBRY keyboard, and can run GoToMeeting/Webinar on it... Beautiful.

    The runtime will always be a catch up game.

    If I recall correctly even Google themselves are scrambling about updating their own Android Runtime (ART for short) for their 4.4 Kit Kat, which is supposedly to be upgraded version of whatever runtime they are using over the Dalvik, and its supposed to be 64-bit instructions. I don't think that repeating this would be sustainable growth for BlackBerry, so I think they should move into an altogether different direction altogether, if they're really keen about the mobile computing (i'm not sure if John Chen has even mentioned 'mobile computing' at all).

    Assuming BlackBerry does catch up, the question is what should be their timing?

    ARM will release some 64 bit devices in early 2015 (or maybe earlier), but first gen ones aren't the mature ones, and it would take more time before the matured 64 bit hardware to roll out for the phones industry.

    2015? Where have you been? They already exist, and the Galaxy S5, releasing in March or April, will come with 64-bit processors (both the Samsung Exynos 6 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, depending on the model). Expect the same from the HTC, LG, and Sony flagships that release early this year, and I'm sure you'll see most of them at MWC this month.
