So you want to refocus and double down on the part of BlackBerry that is losing huge money?

OP I think outside of a few fans that can't seem "get over it", a few IT professionals that bought into it.... no one really cares about BB10, it is just an OS.

It's pretty clear that BlackBerry can't afford to care about it.

Sadly some of your points are just beyond what the current BlackBerry is capable of - they just don't have the resources.

BB10 is gone. BlackBerry if it survives will be a software/security services company, but I hold onto hope that they will continue to find a way to sparingly produce niche keyboard Android phones for some years to come as the rest of the world have completed abandoned the PKB.

This is CrackBerry... everyone here knows that inexhaustible cash falls from the backs of passing unicorns on a daily schedule.

I'm kind of surprised that, with all that cash he must now have, Chen hasn't already bought Apple and Google in a 2 fer 1 deal.

What if management realizes that they can sell many more blackberry 10 phones to their installed base versus struggling to sell a handful of android phones after spending many times more in marketing?

There might be a critical mass of people that do not care about missing certain apps and have ways of working around this. For example using an extra android phone.

If only Chen would have leveraged the power of QNX and the 'iconic' BlackBerry PKB, he coulda had all that, MSFT, AND a bag o' chips!

    Dang you, Chen! Why!? WHY!!??!!

If that were true, BB10 sales would have never fallen below 10M per year - the absolute minimum number needed just to break even. But in fact prior to BB launching the Priv, sales were half that.

To make a BB10 phone, it isn't just the cost of the phone, it's the HUGE cost of maintaining the entire BB10 platform. Other manufacturers (besides Apple and Microsoft) don't have to pay for that, because someone else is handling all of those costs for them, which is why BB's break-even point is so much lower with Android vs. BB10.

BB's phone sales are currently around 2M per year. Can you image those sales growing 500% due to BB releasing another BB10 phone? Neither can BB, which is why they won't do so.

They spent money on marketing for Android phones? Apple spent more on toilet paper for their corporate offices.

They tried for three years to reach some critical mass with BB10.... they did what they could (but not what some think they should have). Either way BB10 is just too costly to continue with. It will be Android or they will exit hardware.

But just as there are still PlayBook owners out there today, they will be owners of BB10 devcies still coming here to tout the advantages of the OS that just never was.

Selling to the installed base is not enough. BB10 failed. If android doesn't get on a paying basis, it's likely doomed to.
