I have to laugh at some ***** from Cannacord making claims that Blackberry wont make money for two years. First off whatever an analyst says has to be taken with a grain of salt. First off do the they know any more then anyone else does about the business? They shouldnt and they dont. If they do then they could be going to jail for insider trading. In any case. Making predictions two years out on any tech company especially in the mobile business is like predicting the weather in the next two years. Even with all the information available its like a huge guessing game. No one knows the next new thing and no one knows who wil lbe the winners or the losers.

BlackBerry likely to stay in the red for another two years -- analyst - CNET

First off quoting an article from CNET is just like anything you dont know who they are trying to sway and what advertiser phoned up and said this is how this should read.
Its to easy to manipulate with a few words from some guy who is probably tucked away in some office somewhere reading headlines and doing a few google searches. These guys might have connections within the industry but to say they know what the outcome will be two years from now? Lets get real.

I still think Blackberry is in for the battle of their life but they stand as good a chance as anyone to turn things around. Anyone remember a small startup called amazon that was one the ropes and everyone said was going to be gone in no time flat. What happened to them? Analysts have no technical know how or advantage over joe blow investor sitting at a computer and reading over the financial filings of any company. The worst part about all this is these guys spreading this crap around the internet like its the word of god. We all have our own set of what makes sense. We can see what is happening in the company. We dont need some dumb @#$ to tell us otherwise.

So by all means read this stuff but take this word of advice. You probably have a better understanding of the issues facing Blackberry then some idiotic analyst. Make a reasonable decision on your own. At least he agreed they could be making money in two years. Boy he is really going out on a limb there. NOT!!

The analyst cites weak demand for Blackberry's devices and lower subscriber numbers based on his interpretation of the latest earnings report. He also mentions that the Foxconn partnership will have a hard time competing on a smaller scale vs a lot of price-aggressive Chinese Android OEM's. These are two pretty legitimate points. He's just looking at the earnings report and trying to predict what the company will do over the next couple of years.

Isn't that what investing is all about? How else are you supposed to make a decision about buying the stock? Pick the smartphone that you like, buy the stock, and then root for it? Contrary to what goes on in the "I support BBRY" thread, that's not how you invest your serious money - it's how you invest your fun money.

If you don't agree with the analysis then you should come up with more than "You can't predict the future!" Investing is largely about placing a bet on the future based, not on inside info, but on your interpretation of publicly available information.

If you're looking for something to be skeptical about, I would tend to view anything on a Blackberry fan site as being skewed towards the positive.

The analyst was just guessing without real numbers to support his guess. In addition, a weak demand does not mean BB has to lose money.

No, because it's an analyst doing an analysis of the data he has in front of him and trying to predict what will happen to BlackBerry in the future. This has nothing to do with BBM or marketing.
