Classic is not an improvement over the Bold
- The Classic is not an improvement over the Bold. Here is the plain truth.
In my opinion V10 is a disaster.
When q10 and z10 came out I tried both out.
Neither was satisfactory. V10 was not ready for prime time.
Today I checked out the Classic. It is still not an improvement over the Bold.
Voice quality is not as good with the Classic as the Bold.
The speaker is not as good as the Bold. The Classic is not satisfactory as a speakerphone. It makes no sense for you to downgrade speaker and microphone capabilities for a work tool. It is a telephone and work tool you should remember. Tool first, toy second. That is Blackberry's place in the world.
The Classic phone vibrates when on speaker indicating a substandard chassis.
The hub is no substitute for the messages page on the bold. This messages page is one of the substantial advantages blackberry still has over the competition. Remember the kiss philosophy: keep it simple stupid.
The classic has a bigger screen. But you have wasted much precious real estate for the dubious privilege of pasting your name [Blackberry] on the front. It could have been put on the back. Screen space should not be compromised. You had room for a lot more screen if efficiently used. However screen size is not the most important thing.
Most important you as a company had the best phone in the world in the bold, when considered as a telephone, email, text and work tool. You could have updated the software and the hardware for a fraction of what you spent on a dubious v10, and had a fine phone.
You abandoned the best in favor of an operating system not ready for prime time, and which abandoned many fine organizational features of the bold in favor of a disorganized and lacking v10.
Even today with all the new phones on the market, when judged objectively as a work tool for making phone calls, sending and receiving text, and sending and receiving emails, the bold is still the best. It is better in this respect than the iphone, the android, the z30, and the so called Classic.
Return to and improve on your roots, if you want to succeed again.
It is time for an update and reissue of the Bold.05-17-15 01:24 AMLike 5 - 05-17-15 01:31 AMLike 2
- I tend to disagree: voice quality is best on Classic, better than Bold, speakerphone - I use the Classic easily in my car without handsfree, or even listen to music, since I find the sound and volume really good. Battery: clearly better on Classic, no comparison here...Having had a chance over the last few days to put them side by side (Bold and Classic) I now realize how good is the Classic compared to the old Bold, hardware and software. I would never return to legacy BBRRY. Then again, myopinion. And I had the Bold for almost two years, convinced that it had the best keyboard ever, but the Classic beats it by far.Benjamin Evald likes this.05-17-15 01:43 AMLike 1

- Looking back I find the Bold 9900 to be a pretty poor device. Best BBOS device when I started using it, but didn't hold up well with time. Optical trackpad unreliable and I had to replace some because they wouldn't work outdoors in direct sunlight. The Keys started stuttering about 15 months of use. And the device would reboot when setting it down after 15 months of use. Z30 blows it away in call quality, speaker quality and efficiency IMHO. Oh and the battery life on the 9900 sucked.

You only love the bold because you adapted for over 3 years to a shyt phone. Just like how people prefer opening an app every time they need to message someone on facebook, sms, whatsapp, e-mail, while we're here using the hub.Bor Navas and spookyentertainment like this.05-17-15 09:20 AMLike 2 - I DX'ed (got rid of) everything "i". Didn't want to use my PP as a music player doing yard work due to dirt sweat, you get the idea. So I fired up my 9930, dumped some tracks on it and away I went. I love the look and feel of the 99. Handsome. So I started to play w/ it. I had forgotten many of the ways that I would accomplish a task not long ago. I had also forgotten about the hour glass. And in my opinion, after using it, the HUB is a work horse that only a fool would race against.

Can't comment on Messages, never used a legacy BB, but I like the Hub very much. Nothing like it that I've come across on other platforms. Perhaps there are some more legacy features that they could incorporate into the Hub to make it even better. I'm sure everyone would welcome that.05-17-15 11:13 AMLike 0 - As a former Bold 9900 user now using Classic I could not disagree with you more. To each his/her own.05-17-15 11:32 AMLike 0

- Don't understand the reactive hate on Cb of 9900 users. Your a BlackBerry fan right? Chevy fans don't hate on the 63 corvette. No one in their right mind would consider a 2015 chevy sonic to be a better car than the 1963 corvette. Just because something is newer doesn't make it better. The bold 9000 and 9900 are some of the best smartphones ever made, certainly the best BlackBerry's. The classic is a nice phone but bb10 doesn't have the functionality of os 7 yet. Maybe it will survive to see the day that it does or maybe it won't.

I couldn't disagree more. The first thing I noticed was the better sound of both ear-piece and speaker. I'm sorry you made your entire judgement based on one phone in the store or wherever you checked it out.
The hub is no substitute for the messages page on the bold. This messages page is one of the substantial advantages blackberry still has over the competition. Remember the kiss philosophy: keep it simple stupid.
I find it interesting that you didn't explain yourself on this one. The hub is basically the same thing as the messages page on the Bold, etc, but offers a quicker way to sort specific feeds, and offers more feed options.
The classic has a bigger screen. But you have wasted much precious real estate for the dubious privilege of pasting your name [Blackberry] on the front. It could have been put on the back. This is probably your oddest statement. The Bold ALSO has a square screen, and ALSO has as logo on the front top....the same place. The screen is limited based on the space for it inside the phone and the logo just goes where ever there is space after that.
Most important you as a company had the best phone in the world in the bold, when considered as a telephone, email, text and work tool. You could have updated the software and the hardware for a fraction of what you spent on a dubious v10, and had a fine phone
Are you basing this on any facts? Or just venting?. Because the OS was at a dead end and they needed to start with something new.
You abandoned the best in favor of an operating system not ready for prime time, and which abandoned many fine organizational features of the bold in favor of a disorganized and lacking v10.
Would you mind actually explaining how it's "not ready for prime time"? Or which fine organizational features were abandoned? Or how BB10 is disorganized? Clearly you've done your homework on this and....as someone who "checked out the phone" you have more knowledge than those who own one.
Even today with all the new phones on the market, when judged objectively as a work tool for making phone calls, sending and receiving text, and sending and receiving emails, the bold is still the best.
I agree with this. The 9900 work the best phone ever for quick communications and the (sometimes) convoluted way in which you do the same tasks on BB10's Classic can be frustrating.
It is time for an update and reissue of the Bold
Never going to happen. They already did that once.05-17-15 03:33 PMLike 4 - Classic is definitely a step up from the Bold. Speakerphone volume is better, keyboard is better, and I still use it for phone, email, text and the odd social media post.
Sounds like the OP had just held the new device but really hasn't used it.
Classic is an improvement from the Bold....in my opinion.

What "hate"? The OP started the thread with BB10 "hate" and others have simply disagreed or asked the OP for specifics in his/her vague analysis.
Chevy fans don't hate on the 63 corvette. No one in their right mind would consider a 2015 chevy sonic to be a better car than the 1963 corvette.
Says who? Better.....at what? It's amazing how people try establish something as fact based purely on opinion. But just wondering....why the hate on 2015 Corvette owners?

I agree there are things the 9900 does that BB10 still can't do. I've listed them in many threads. But there are also many things the 9900 can't do that....finally....a keyboard BB can now do.05-17-15 03:40 PMLike 0 - Don't understand the reactive hate on Cb of 9900 users.
