I just don't think you will find a tenth of that unfortunately, which brings you up to $500/month.

    I know right.

no one is going to pay a monthly fee to get an OS that inconveniences themselves from the lack of apps
Um... if Macintosh users are any indication over the last thirty years... people will spend a lot of money even when faced with no apps.. more money even.

Different time, different customer base, different platform. Can't safely extrapolate, I should think. Macs also had one really strong feature set that a sizable profitable demographic liked. BBRY doesn't have that.

Not compared to us. If any user base has defined loyalty, it's us BlackBerry users.

Reason being is that I am still loving my BlackBerry 10, even though it doesn't have lots of updated apps. I just simply like its simplicity and productivity.

Swipe gesture, swipe keyboard, hub, sideload apk, having the control to turn off mobile network and run on wifi only, the BlackBerry blend..... I can't find this on any Android phone at all!

    Posted via CB10
Swipe and gesture have been on Android for years. If you like gestures? Android can directly install from apk but doesn't need to. Running on wifi only is not a feat. Keep dreaming.

If there had been no Photoshop for Mac, no illustrator, no MS Office, and no pro tools, those Mac users would not have stuck around for 30 years moving files around in Finder.

Yup. BlackBerry users are so loyal, we make sure that handset sales keep spiralling every quarter.

BlackBerry should pay for key apps that people want. One problem solved. The next is MARKETING and BB10 awareness. Where is that high end Full Touch BB10 phone? We are all still waiting.

Apps then and now os very different. If microsoft hadnt provided a version of microsoft office sweet and internet explorer back when Steve Jobs returned to apple the Mac and the whole entire apple company would have died a painful death. Now a days a mobile device needs to do alot more than email txt and calls to be productive

The company was about to die a painful death until microsoft bailed them out with however many millions. Didn't stop people from preferring their macs and not jumping ship.

'build your own' blackberry. Choice between OS - BBOS10 or Android, then all the extras, how many GBs, camera, SD card, BBM, keyboard or full touch, build quality etc. The only that would be standard is security since that is BlackBerry's reputation. I would fully go for that.

Great idea. Like when I buy a car.

    1. Choose type (full touch, PKB, Slider)
    2. Chose model (low, mid, high) {more ram, storage, stereo speakers, etc}
    3. Choose OS (android, bb10)
    4. Choose extras

I think there was a market for custom made phones.

Interesting this thread has popped up. I was thinking about the same thing last week. If the subscription was reasonably priced, I would definitely be in!
