When BBOS with BIS support cease, I will have no good idea where I'd go for my next phone (not even the Titan.) It's like choosing the best of two evils, iOS or Android: which are ADD causing epidemic that tricks the brain into multitasking with constant distractions and scattered icons leaving behind our ability to focus. Sad when a market of products get reduced to a duopoly of the lowest common denominator of fake societal demands (i.e. selling us on megapixel for cameras as if somehow more megapixels equates to better quality rather than the reality: more wasteful pixels. (The fools of market demand alludes)

I know that I would be making compromises to a severe degree of lack of function with bloat, in order to get the features that BBOS devices come with and with significantly more footprint and privacy compromises in comparison. The glut for data consumption for simple use is rampid. And the use of an exponential amount of resources only to be consumed exponentially with bloat is very discerning to me.

I like to be very conservative when it comes to data use. Also the ability to add an extended battery having phones that use to have removable battery (the term 'battery pull' is no longer expressed.) And now with pictures that look like crap at 100% 1:1 zoom with super small sensors for 20mb pictures; the unconsented data consumption for simple tasks....wth? I used up 3gb of data just by choosing default settings on Android to load all my emails and their contents (not simply headers)....this world is in a muck, backward way. I could write on although anyone that came from a BBOS background would agree that we live in rubishly lavish times.

My pipe dream is that BBOS would have continued. If there is anything left to be prized it maybe in a way that BB sells the intellectual property of BBOS to another phone maker, and one that BB would trust to live by the BB standards of privacy security and utilitarian business orientated functions. BB is pretty much out of the phone making business anyhow.

Tell me about it... I just got notified that I was reaching the limits of my 1,024 GB Xfinity data plan (didn't know there was a limit on cable internet).....

That's the downside of cord cutting... (dropped Directv). At the same time that 4K content is becoming a big thing from streaming service. But a 4K Stream is a huge improvement over what we could stream 10 years ago. Just like images from today's cameras blow away anything a BBOS phone could do...

If BBOS worked great for you... sorry it's going away. But the reality is it wasn't what the market wanted in 2010, muchless 2020. Being an outlier is tough...

I'm happy with Laserdisc and 480. Market pushes to 4K and soon 8K is just ridiculous in my book, and besides them smart TV's with cameras under the bezel supposedly for advertisement bio-metrics of your reactions to it is an invasion of privacy at the cost of making these TV's more affordable.

    Why I don't have a smart TV:

"makers of Vizio televisions $2.2m for collecting viewing data on 11 million consumers without telling them. If you owned a Vizio TV, it could hear you even when turned off – and it could see you, too. Information was gathered and shared with retailers to refine sales techniques and better target consumers. "

Alarmist half truths... Yes Vizio was fined for collecting data, but no they weren't watching you through cameras or mics in the TV.

Cherry picking, out of context in the scope of intrusions this article and one's like it report!

    Thanks,

Was meant to be an antidote. It doesn't bother me too much that other folks care less (abit concerning) ; it maybe helpful to other readers that do not know about the invasion of privacy with these "smart" TVs. Heck, it sure brings the cost down.

A lot of these DOCTA films I produced are from my personal experiences....although a bit off topic, my experiences is what inspired me this creative outlet:

That's only about 500 hours of HD porn, which leaves you over 200 hours to sleep it off if you don't bathe or leave the house. You should definitely speak with your provider because that's a very reasonable use case!

I tried to rewatch B5 on my 4K TV - it looked terrible, just terrible - like a lost home video.

I did the same... don't remember the service, but they clearly had not remastered it. Some ST shows from same time period or before look OK, other than the square screen.

They should just re-release the BlackBerry 10 Passport (maybe the classic, heck all Q series - not to be confused with Q character on that newer kind of star trek) along with some kind of global subscription of all square screen television archives.
We can hollywood stylize/wrap it, and call it the:
    "Passport - Secret television Archives".
