you know in just recent news, there is uproar in Germany over allegation of US hack into Angela Merkel phone

i'm wondering what brand of phone did she use ? is it blackberry ? or other phone ? any ideas guys

cause supposedly Blackberry is hack proof.. so if that is BB then another serious blow to BB reputation

As far as I have seen photos - it's Z10 (don't remember the source)

No communication device is hack proof, especially the one which is massively produced. Officials should be provided with some kind of 'special' devices having hardened security. I would not blame BB or any other producer of the hardware in this case.

As I recall, the photos where she holds the Z10, were taken at the Cebit conference in March of this year. She was checking out extra secure Samsung and Blackberry phones the German government ordered, but as far as I can say, she never actually used a Z10 after that. Check out the link below, where you can see her real phone.

Angela Merkel/ the German Goverment is just switching to BB10/Samsung S3 devices with a special encryption-system.

She was (is still?) using a windows phone, as fas as I know. So I think not bad news for BB, maybee even good news...

Merkel is using a Nokia according to handelsblatt.com but will use a Blackberry in the near future.

    Nonsense...

NSA/CIA shouldn't have a problem cracking the security on a Blackberry.

For example, the US president isnt allowed to use an unmodifed Blackberry, since the security isn't good enough.

Obama had to have NSA specially modify his Blackberry, before he was allowed to use it. The only cellphone allowed in the Whitehouse is a ultra secure Sectera phone.

Intresting, there are 2 different opinion here.. some says that her phone is nokia, the pic of her holding z10 is a photo op during a tech fair in germany... any German nationality to verify this?

If I Google translate the website linked to this thread it seems that now she is switching to BlackBerry from Nokia
