What do you mean by multi-task? Voice and data at the same time or being able to have more than 1 app running at the same time?

If you mean receive text while on the phone, or surf the web while in the phone I think that's a Verizon issue not a phone issue.

It isn't. Thats a network issue not a phone issue.

CDMA networks (Verizon & Sprint) are unable to support simultaneous data and talk. GSM networks AT&T) can and do support it. As far as 'multitasking,' it will be as good if not better on iOS 5.

Oh well. I think I remember for the short time I had a Droid X that I could talk and surf as long as I had WiFi.

Yes, it can do simultaneous voice and data on wifi only.

You can also send/receive sms while on the phone.

AT&T's iPhone will be the only use carrier to be able to complete this over their network. An unlocked iPhone on T-mobile USA would only allow for EDGE data which is not capable (at least the type that T-mobile uses).
