That's what the iPhone is for. I get your point but most netbooks and tablets do not have a phone app built in so there is no reason to think that Apple needs this or that by not having it the iPad is somehow crippled.

You have a point but the micro sim hardware is really there for data. But I see what
    you're saying though.

I think it is useful but I don't think they wanted to get into carrier contracts and stuff with this. AT&T may let u use data contract free but I highly doubt they'll let you get away with voice under the same terms. Once you start getting into celluar services I think it changes the game and makes more restrictions. Having said that if it supports skype which it probably will then case closed.

So you don't have to carry it *and* a phone?

Bigger question is why you would buy a tablet that can't multitask or show flash videos.

Yeah, true, but it's 10" big. Doesn't seem very easy to use.

First of all, the iPad can multitask. Second, because Flash would rape the battery.

I personally hate flash but there are tons of sites you can't use without it, including many e-commerce sites. The real reason it doesn't support flash is because iJobs hates flash, not because of battery consumption. I know, because my lowly Nokia 5800 has native flash and it's half the size of an iPhone. Oh yeah, except that it has 640x360 screen resolution and multitasking and it still lasts all day on one charge.

It cannot multitask. Maybe a jailbroken one can, but 99.9% of the average ***** consumers won't jailbreak theirs.

Can you replace one of the batteries on the iPad or is it like the iPhone all locked away and not allowed to be opened. Why on earth do they do that?

Don't know if the link will work... Its a mobi link from FOXnews but it looks like the iPad is causing a lot of sites to do simple, no-flash redesigns!
