Well...made the switch
Came from the Android world. Had the Fascinate, the X and the DINC all great phones in their own right. But man what I have been missing , the iPhone just works.
Love my iphone4 no more dinking around with rooting, romming, etc....
Now to Jailbreak or not to that is the question.

I'm just wondering some more of your opinions. You seem like you were pretty versed in Android. I've done a little rooting, but I actually like the stock experience better. As strange as it may sound, I'm too OCD to try to tinker with every little thing. If I can't get everything right through rooting, I might as well not do it at all and live stock, and I'm actually very happy with it. If that makes sense.
Anyway, I switched to the VZW iPhone twice in the last few months, and just couldn't do it. I've grown to love a stock phone, and not having to deal with anything too technical, and still be able to mess around with it and make it look and function as I see fit. What I didn't like about iPhone is the lack of customization and it's overall "plain-ness". I didn't want to have to jailbreak it, but that's what I was going to HAVE to do to get it to do what I wanted - and what my DX can do stock. The notifications drove me nuts. It got to the point that I pretty much had no notifications because I didn't like how I couldn't change anything myself. I also found that the apps were all basically the same, yet I could do so much more with the Android ones - plus many of them that cost (albeit usually $0.99) on iPhone are free on Android.
I'm just curious as to what you think of all that - how are you dealing with the lack of customization? Especially being that you are someone that knows your stuff when it comes to smartphones (at least that's what it appears from the forums) :). I really did like the iPhone. It's a friggin' magnificent device, and I think it's probably the sexiest looking phone on the market. It's just missing too much stuff that I can do stock on Android, and the apps are virtually identical (and cheaper). I actually dubbed the iPhone a smartphone for dumb people, which is kind of the opposite of your PIN quote. And I don't mean that dumb people use it, just that it's easier to figure out that it would appeal to, and be usable by, a wider population. My fiance uses a Bold 9650 and she loves the widgets on my DX, but I'm steering her towards an iPhone in the future because I think it would be much easier for her - she's not very technologically inclined and I think Android would drive her insane. Anyway, thanks for reading my novel, and sorry for posting so much.

I think what it came down to for me anyway is this, I am a Systems Analyst at my states biggest health care provider. I just got tired of dealing with my phone after a day of dealing with work. SO I guess you can say I took the easy way out, plus I got my wife the white iPhone 4 for mothers day and video chatting will be fun,,,,if you get my drift.....

Haha...I definitely understand. I'm not one of those people that says "I WILL NEVER SWITCH FROM ANDROID!!!" I'm sure I'll revisit it at a later point in time, especially after seeing what iPhone 5 has to offer. But I just want a little more customization without having to jailbreak it. I just don't want to deal with it. I'm kind of like you, after a day at work I don't want to have to work on my phone, too.
