June 29 (Bloomberg) -- Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S.
mobile-phone company, will start selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone next year, ending AT&T Inc.’s exclusive hold on the smartphone in the U.S., two people familiar with the plans said.
The device will be available to customers in January, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information isn’t public. Brenda Raney, a spokeswoman for Verizon Wireless, did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, and Peter Thonis, a Verizon Communications Inc. spokesman, declined to comment.
I dont know I still think this is just a rumor. I think AT&T has the contract till june of 2012 if i was a 5year contract that they had from the beginning. I could see the iphone probably on tmobile before i see it on verizon. Or at least on Verizon when they launch their 4G network which i think will be GSM based i could be wrong though.

If true quite of bit of people will switch to VZ which will give At&t a much needed decongesting network break.
fock yeah, i for one will....however if you've known anyone that has iphone, that ATT is horrible....prolly horrible enough to gtfo the att contract early
wow thats crazy iphone on verizon imagine how many att users will be upset (in my area)
Why would AT&T users be upset? Only immature ones will. I would love it if it went to Verizon. I'm staying with AT&T but I would love to have the choice and also get some of the congestion off AT&T. I would like that. What follows this is a plethora of Android phones to AT&T now. No doubt their agreement with Apple has kept high end Android devices off their network. But if iPhone is no longer exclusive look for powerful Android devices offered through AT&T. In my opinion it's a win-win for AT&T, VZW and any other customers. Choice and competition. But once again, we'll see if this is true.
