Would it be possible to use an unlocked iphone on the verizon network??

From what I understand you can't because Iphone does not support CDMA. The Iphone needs a SIM card to work and Verizon doesn't offer that.
I could be wrong since I'm from Canada so I don't know much about verizon

you are correct. at this time the iPhone is only offered as a GSM device.
The short answer is NO. The iPhone doesn't have a CDMA radio in it (the technology Verizon uses). Sorry. The iPhone can only be used on AT&T and T-Mobile.

Maybe you could get a Mifi and use an iPhone in WIFI mode...
Hutchison Austria does that with the iPad for data - or they planned to do so initially. But I don't think that this system makes voice possible...
It does if you are using skype. With the multitasking in iPhone 4 skype can run in the background now and you can receive calls even when the phone is locked or other apps are running. It would work and then you'd have data with the Mifi. 60 bucks isn't a bad deal at all for mifi service and skype calls on your iphone. And since you're connected to wifi you can do facetime as well.
Yeh but you have to pay for skype to non-skype users. So $60+ that isnt all that much cheaper than $40 for voice and $30 for data.
Depends on the person because everyone doesn't talk on the phone a lot nor want AT&T service. Plus with wifi you can text message for free to any number. Also when you're traveling you're good to go where ever with coverage. I don't think this is an option for everyone but everyone doesn't want to AT&T so this is an alternative to them and they can pay about as much a single iphone (including text) and still have the flexibility of their mifi for other devices to hook up to. So for some it's not ideal but for others it's a good deal until there's an iPhone on their network.
If you're only going to use wifi for texting or Skype or whatever, then just get an iPod touch...it's basically an iPhone without the phone part.
That's true but the person asked about an iPhone. And with the iPhone the user will always have the ability to use it as a phone when they want. All up to the user.
Be patient, Verizon will have the iPhone around Christmas time or at the beginning of next year.
I sure hope so! Seems like I have been waiting years for that to happen. :D
Hi,
given the excessive amount of fluttering on Windows Phone 7, I predict that it is indeed possible that the exclusivity could end soon...
i beg to differ. at&t has always had a very strong lineup. Besides their lacking in the android department they had the phones to beat. Them pumping up a w7 is just them catering to the millions who prefer anything other than an iphone. They are about to start promoting the bb slider aswell.
I have a question (I really do not care since I use GSM but a friend asked me). I do not know nothing about CDMA phones but when Verzion does release their iPhone, could it be unlocked to be used with other CDMA carriers (sprint, virgin, boost, etc)?
As of now, the iPhone can only be on AT&T and Tmobile, the only way that can change is if a carrier allows GSM or if you get a phone that accepts something besides GSM.
