I j/b mine and then restored it back. Unless there's some j/b apps that you really want/need I don't see the point. Some people do it so they can tell their BB/Pre friends that their iPhone can multitask. Some people do it for the themes. Some find apps that aren't available in the app store (ie. 5 icon dock). There aren't too many risks because you can always restore it.
I'm just thrilled that what it does, it does well, unlike the Storm I got rid of.
If I were you, I'd just do a search for top jailbreak apps and see if there's anything you have to have. Find one, and there's your excuse to jailbreak.
Hey man , yeah not really into the apps more into the multi-tasking , have you seen first hand how it works ? Also , im kind of confused with "push" for gmail. I have sent myself a few test msges , and they take 15 - 30 min to get to me , WHY lol ?
I have mine jailbroken and i must say it makes it more useable for me being used to multitask. It works good but be aware it will be **** on your batter especially if your like me that i tend to enable it on beejive or im+. Being able to enable flash for some sites like youtube and being able to stream videos and movies due to the xyflash.
There is no push for gmail. You can do it with yahoo (free) or a paid mobileme account. You can forward your regular email to one of those to get it pushed. I think someone mentioned also nuevasync is another way to push your gmail.
I never tried the multitask when I was jailbroken so I can't say.
Multi-tasking is pretty much the only reason I am jailbroken. I use backgrounder every day. All you do is open an app like Pandora then press and hold the home key for like 2 seconds, you will get a quick popup that says "backgrounding enabled", Pandora will close and continue to run in the background. To end it just go back into the app and press the home key again for 2 seconds, you will get another quick popup that says "backgrounding disabled" and it will close. Really simple to use, if you want to see what you have running in the background, I would get sbssetting from cydia, it will let you see what apps you have running plus give you the ability to kill them.
I don't see any drawbacks to jailbreaking, my battery life is good and my phone is still way faster than my wife's 3G, no stability issues at all.
you jailbreak for customizing. Things apple doesn't allow like themes or fonts, message sounds, backgrounds, apps apple denies like google. once you start browsing the cydia library you start downloading things you never knew existed and it becomes part of the phone and your regular routine
The best thing I can see about JB is themes :D
do it u will not regret it!!!!!!!!!!!
i did it too, only thing that i like is the statusnotifier app,
One word... Haptics. You think your virtual keyboard is just OK just do a Cydia search for haptic. It will make your kb feel like a whole different (and much better) animal... Although I should say the haptic software I have is on a repository that not a lot of people have access too, I know there's one or two out there that should still work pretty well...
that's the only reason why i'm using iphone *part time*
Sooks, By now if you have started on with the process, you would have noticed that PurpleRa1n(stickied in CB for JailBreaking) doesn't works for 3.01. Here's a link for you and all those who are looking for other alternatives :
