Rookie question here - what is the *actual* difference in security btw droid based bberry and iPhone? Or other droid phone?

Both Sony and Apple phones can be encrypted with password. Both can use BBM, Work, etc. DTEK isn’t that amazing as it doesn’t shut down shadow apps running.

How do I know that a bberry will protect me against ‘rogue’ govt agents in NSA/GCHQ, hackers from N Korea or corporate hydras like FB/ABC?

I suspect that actually means very little... we will see if it gets them any government or enterprise customers, as they would be the main ones looking for better than standard security.

If you are worried about rogue government agents or hydra like corporations.... stop using any electronics.

In addition to apps above, running a VPN and better browser like like Brave or Tor is about as secure as you can get while not becoming a Luddite.
