So when I am loading a web page, sometimes safari just quits especially when I pinch zoom while it's loading.

Try it with Engadget or even crackberry's website.

Any ideas why?

When you say it quits, do you mean that it crashes and goes back to your homescreen?

Have you done a hard reboot? Hold the home button and top power button until
the Apple logo appears.

sounds like programs werent closed out and the RAM was full so the OS closed Safari out to manage memory.

is it a 3G or 3GS

Mine does that fairly frequently on "complicated" sites like Engadget or AutoBlog. It helps if you let the page fully render before trying to scroll.
