FCC Takes On Apple And AT&T Over Google Voice Rejection
Why on earth would they reject it?
It's easy to see why they rejected it, free SMS messages, cheap long distance. I'm almost sure its AT&T that pushed Apple to reject these kinds of apps since Google Voice could be a big threat to their business. I already send a ton of SMS messages using Google voice.
It also makes it easier for me to change carriers when I want, I can't tell you the drama I had when I swapped phone numbers on my Storm and iPhone. Verizon wanted to cancel my contract to release the number, AT&T wanted to do the same. I just wanted to swap the friggin numbers! It was waaay harder than it needed to be.
I'm glad the FCC is stepping in on this.....
Yeah its pretty understandable that they could loose lots of money because of those apps. Yeah it sucks but att has to do what they have to do to make money. That's like Verizon big expensive data plan.
^There's laws in place against it though.
You can't reject them just because they're competition.
