Now with an iPhone I think I'm going to check out what all this craziness over Angry Birds is all about. So I went into the App Store and searched for Angry Birds, but what I found has confused me.

Listed I see Angry Birds ($0.99) Angry Birds Rio ($0.99) and then Angry Birds and Angry Birds Rio for free. The versions of the games listed as "free" don't seem to be "lite" versions. As a matter of fact in the description it says the free version has 15 more levels than the original pay version.

What's the deal here, are the ones listed as "free" updated full versions of the game? And if that is the case why would the pay versions still be listed if free ones are available?

I think the full versions actually do have more levels. I have all three, but paid.

I agree...the free verisons may be ad supported now instead of a lite version. I just buy the paid versions so I don't have ads...they drive me crazy. It's worth the .99 to me.
