Yeah, that user is correct. You could use Verizon cloud and back them up, or sync them to your email account like Gmail, exchange, etc. And you don't have a 6s. It won't be announced until November.
I will need some sort of app or that stupid verizon thing, right?

It's quite simple. Download the App called Device Switch on both phones and then make sure both devices are connected to the same WiFi. You can then select what you want to transfer. You can go from any platform to any platform and select contacts, calendar, pictures, and/or videos. With about 400 contacts, 300 calendar entries, 500 photos, and 5 short video clips it took 5 minutes. I've gone from a Passport to an iPhone 6 and just went from that iPhone 6 to a BlackBerry Porsche Design Graphite P'9983 last week.
i have a playbook that has been used about ten times, i have had a 8830, 9650, and 9930 (double typing issue). I did purchase a used q10 but that of course has ddouble typing issue. I also am shareholder of bbry stock that has drop that is worth half of purchase date...
will it work if i am changing from 9930 to iphone 6s
Should work as long as Device Swich app is on your 9930 and the 9930 connects to WiFi. But not to bash Apple, as I use an iPhone a lot, but my new P'9983 is my daily...why not wait for the Slider at least? It's hard for you to complain as a user and investor if you in fact are jumping ship without trying any BlackBerry 10 devices? A used Q10 doesn't count, really and the newest update should fix double typing.
I used the q10 on wifi to browse the web for about a month. I did not care for the gestures. The playbook never was updated to the ten os but the ceo misled the followers. I know I am on a blackberry fan site but I am just ready for a change that is all.
8830, 9650, and 9930 are hall fame devices due to bis. I know most people will find it comical but the revenue stream that it created for rimm was out of this world.

Apple has gestures to get around too. Unless you really hate the slide from the bottom or the hub peak on your q10, you won't get too much of a better experience with ios. The only reason to go apple is literally because you want app compatibility for organizations and social interactions. You don't sound like you snap chat a lot or have to use apps in your college classes.
BlackBerry 10 on wi-fi is not really a good way to feel it. The whole concept of BlackBerry 10 is the Hub and how it makes messaging so easy to do. Anyway anything is better than the old legacy BlackBerry devices, although they were also great for messaging.
Double typing is fixed on the latest software release.
