So I was at the genius bar (I still feel silly saying that) at the new Apple store at Grand Central in New York on Friday getting my wife's iPad fixed. After we determined that they had no idea what the solution was, we did a full restore on the spot, which corrected the issue with the iPad.

I've been having poor battery lately on my iPhone along with it running hot. I asked the genius helping us about it and he ran some tests. Seems I have been having tons of crashes and errors in the background so his suggestions...yep, you got it, a full restore.

Well I spend the next hour doing just that at the office. I followed Accidental Post's instructions to the letter and it seems to have fixed whatever the issue was. This is my second full restore, I guess I have been installing and deleting too many apps which probably messed things up.

So far today, it's been 15 hours standby, 5 hours usage, still 36% in the tank. I have NEVER had better battery life since I got the phone. I have two push exchange accounts, wifi on, and location services on as well (I never left it on before). I am hoping this will continue.

It cracks me up, that after all that Apple brainwashing about how "it just works", the way I had to fix both issues was restore both devices. Apparently "control, alt, delete" is ubiquitous across all operating systems.

Thankfully I have a windows and blackberry background, so I am very comfortable doing the process.

I don't care what the device is (Android, Apple or BlackBerry), once I can get battery service from 06:00 in the morning when I leave the house, till I get back, around 18:30...

If I can do that, and not having to charge during the day, and still use my device moderately, I'd be happy.

Based on the stats I've been posting, I'm what? HAPPY

My battery on my EVO couldn't survive 9 hours usage and stand by combined, let alone have 20%+ remaining. I'm a power user and once again my new iPhone impresses me. ^_^

Does the restore REALLY help this much or is it just a placebo effect type of thing?

    I got a 4S a few days ago.

Does anybody know of an app that displays Battery usage in a similar way to MeterBerry did, including the Drop-per-Hour rating? I tried to search, but all I get in google is a million pages telling me the iPhone 4s has a battery problem.

I think a DPH rating would go a long way to assist in seeing if you have an issue or not...

    Thanks in advance...

I recently jailbroke my iPhone4 and since then, I seem to not getting accurate usage time readings.
Standby time seems to be quite accurate, but there's NO WAY I've only used my phone for 1 hour and 29 mintes since yesterday. NO WAY!
I've played some games, I looked things up online, got my email pushed, read my twitter timeline all throughout the day and even read a frickin' ebook for at least 2 hours!
I didn't respring or anything, so this number just cannot be accurate.

Has anyone of you come across something like this before too?

Wow. Is 6 hours of usage really bad? That's what my Thunderbolt would get and thought it was poor.

It would last 22 hours on standby...but...that's not using it!

I thought the iPhone had good battery life.
