I hope Apple approves this. Speed wise, it spanks Safari.

    Thanks BGR.

Only if Apple approves it. The app was submitted today. I have been checking back hourly to see if its in the App store, and still nothing yet. Apple isnt a big fan of non-webkit browsers, so i would not be surprised if it got declined. Although i hope it doesnt.

The only thing i don't like is you cannot pinch to zoom within the browser ahhh. lol but its so much faster then safari i wouldnt mind anyway.

All depends on if Apple lets it through or not. There not big fans of browsers that aren't webkit. Also it is a direct competitor of Safari so that too may stop it. I'm checking every hour though so once it get through it it does ill post it on here.

it would serve more as a back up in my opinion when roaming and what not, when you don't want to get charged to much in the roaming charges category.

I'm impatient. Faster is therefore better.

Also, those of us who don't have unlimited data would benefit from the data compression. I wouldn't have to be as concerned about going over, as most of my usage on this thing is browsing.

+1 Ive been checking itunes periodically today hoping this will hit. This will also be great for those of us unlocked running on T-Mobile edge network.

I wouldn't hold my breath for this. It could take months for approval (if it is approved) and Apple isn't too keen on adding major apps to the store that do exactly the same thing as their native apps. We will see.

It's also not just the compression.
On Safari, when you press the back button, it loads the page all over again.

With Opera, it caches the page, saving you data once more.

I thought this was kinda cool, Opera set up a "countup" until Apple approves it: My Opera - Opera Mini Countup

Been waiting for this. Hopefully Apple will accept this.

I'm thinking about data usage a little more.

    Bandwidth is a finite resource.
iPhone users are per capita the biggest data hogs in the mobile universe.

I would think AT&T would be pushing for this to be accepted, as mass adoption would benefit their network.
I'm not sure how much influence they have (if any) with Apple.

What's funny is that the only reason that I even used Opera Mini in the first place is that the BB browser was so crappy that I had to find something that would allow me to view web pages the way that I thought that I should be able to view them. Now that I have the 3GS I really do not see a need for OM at all. While it may be faster then Safari I really doubt that it will be as stable or as smooth overall. Does anyone know if it will support muti-touch? If it does I may give it a look, but if not I have no need for it.

i looks good. But Safari is IMO the best mobile browser available. Some of you maid great points about less data consummation with OM but this could be it's down fall if AT&T is going to end up losing $ then I am sure they will have a good talk with Apple about this. In the other hand for those of you that do have unlimited data and start using OM and like it...those could mean AT&T will save $$.....so confused lol.
In any case you guys have a good browser

Definitely going to have Opera Mini on my iPhone if it's accepted. I may not use it more than Safari though.
