Of course, if I ever scrounge enough $ for a tablet, it will likely be the Playbook, but the ipad 2 is looking sweet.

Hey.....magnetized covers that auto sleep/wake....was that just a smart move by Rim/Berry, or did they patent it?

Ohhhh, and this question.....so, unless there is a separate HDMI out slot, the ONLY way to use HDMI out on the iPad 2 is with their new double dongle (squee) cable for $39. Interesting move Apple.....

Stevie is "amazed" at things like 1.3lbs. That's still twice as heavy as Kindle 1, 2, or 3, and still heavier than Kindle DX.

I could not use that for reading without killing my wrists.

But that white iPad2 is one sexy device....that's for sure.

Exactly. They just compared an e-reader's weight to a tablet that has a lot more going on in the inside. Can you say Apples to oranges?

You sound surprised. Apple does this with everything. They use their cables with their products. It's been like that forever.

Yes, the A5 dual core processor. It will most likely also be a lot thinner.

With the A5 one would assume increased multitasking?

Nope. The processor will make things faster, but the multitasking will be the same.

I don't see Apple giving true multitasking really - frankly I haven't missed it myself although having multitasking is great.

Surprised there's no retina display. Either they just couldn't hammer it out in time
since it's a bigger display than the iPhone. Or, it's just a selling point for the iPad 3 so
why waste it on the 2nd?

It really wasn't a surprise for me. Retina display that size would probably be cost prohibitive at this time. A 10" retina display would probably require something like a 3000x2000 resolution screen. I'm pretty sure manufacturing yields at this time for something like that is pretty low. A year ago, screen manufacturers had difficulties manufacturing the 720p IPS display in sufficient quantities. I don't think a year could advance manufacturing technology so much that a 3000x2000 10" screen could be made for under $100 in large quantities. Retina display on a 10" screen is probably at least 2 years away, unless there's a light year leap in manufacturing technology in the next few months.
