New iPhone WCDMA
It's being reported that China Unicom and Apple have reached a deal. The new iPhones will be WCDMA, and will be available in the 4th quarter of this year. The articles that I've read say that WCDMA is being used by some carriers in the US.
Could this possibly mean that we have a chance of getting the iPhone on a carrier other then GSM here in the US? I'm by no means complaining about AT&T, but I have no 3g coverage within 100 miles of my home and I can't believe how slow edge is.
I know a lot of people wish for a Verizon iPhone, but I'm not sure they use WCDMA. Does anyone know who the US WCDMA carriers are?
