I checked my upgrade and i could get a refurb iphone 3g 8gb for 50 bucks and 16gb for 100 sounds like a great deal... the 3gs is 200 for a 16gb... but is it really that big of a difference between the phones... i want to jailbreak it and put as much apps as possible

If the iPhone is going to be your primary phone, I say go big or go home....3gs all the way. More RAM, faster processor equals faster performance. The battery life, for me, has been superb, surprisingly comparable to the Bold, and every jailbreak app I've installed works perfectly with no lag because of the extra RAM. If I had a 3g, I would have 30 free megs of RAM on startup, as opposed to the approximately 160 I have on the 3gs. (Running winterboard, sbsettings, supreme preferences, and five-column springboard).

If you're going to keep your Blackberry as your primary phone, and want a taste of the iPhone experience to see if you like it, go with the 3g.

Honestly, if I could afford to have both a Blackberry and an iPhone, I would do it (but it would have to be a Bold and a 3gs. I couldn't regress to another model on either device.)

The 3GS is way faster. I wouldn't upgrade from a 3G to a 3GS, but if you have the choice between the two as your first definitely get the 3GS.

In 2 years when you are eligible for your next upgrade, the extra $100 you spend now will not even matter.

the added power will show its strength if you jailbreak and have mobilesubtrate running. if you have the dough its a no brainer but if your strapped for cash then there isn't a bad decision

If you are strapped for cash then you shouldn't be spending $100/month on a cell phone plan.
good thing the iphone plan isn't a 100 a month
