So I just bought this phone for pretty cheap. I've had a 3G before, this one is a 3GS 16gb.
Anyways, it's stuck on thee apple logo. I can get it into recovery mode but any firmware I try to load, I get an error. The last error I had was that the firmware file was not compatible. It was for 4.0. I've tried 3.1 also and got another error. The latest error was with 4.01 saying: The iphone could not be restored and unknown error occured (13)
    My itunes is version 9.1.0.79.
I am still fairly new with Apple,so please explain so a 5 year old could understand lol

Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated

Not impossible, but close. My friend got his 3G replaced because
Apple was unable to restore it.

Not impossible but very very hard to. You really have to try to brick it. 99% of the time you can fix it.

This is good to know. New iPhone user hear and though I don't plan on doing anything harmful to my phone or jailbreaking it, it's good to know that if it acts up I should be able to restore it.
