Only a guess, but for MMS I'd say it will coincide with Apple Special Music Event which according to other websites will probably occur on September 8th. I'd bet on 3.1 (which will have MMS enabled) being released then and possibly iTunes 9.
For tethering, good luck. If AT&T has their way, not in our lifetime.
Its available on REAL smart phones...LOL A lot of ppl are still waiting you are not alone.
More than likely when 3.1 is released. If Apple smart, it won't be when they release the new iTunes either. I say this because everyone is going to want to d/l both 3.1 and iTunes which could lag Apple's servers a lot.
Tethering will come as soon as they feel the network is capable (upgraded). This is my guess.
I can tether now just fine. :D:D:D:D
I got this to work
Tethering your iPhone: DO IT NOW! NO JAILBREAK! - iPod touch Fans forum
I also got the above to work..
It's not end of summer yet,....LOL
it def. won't be until 3.1 since 3.0 was said to enable both features it does but It was then crippled in the US so we have to wait for 3.1 for the features to be reactivated.
Just got that to work as well...
I'm sure I read that AT&T was the reason MMS is turned off in the US. They don't have network capacity to enable it. I can't see that happening anytime soon, either. There are more dropped calls then ever and service is generally worse than that of a year ago. Sales of the phone continue to stress their limited network.
Maybe when LTE is fully deployed in 2011 :(
I have had AT&T for several years and have not noticed any worse service. Seems the same as a year ago.
I have MMS on my iPhone. I just updated the carrier file and updated the network stuff. It works just fine. It is a little slow, like 20 seconds to send, but it works. I like the interface of it.
It is easier to set up if you have a family messaging plan like I do. No need to switch your sim to another GSM phone and make phone calls then switch back.
Hopefully soon. I do not do either much, but I feel the pain for those who do.

Can you explain the steps? We have 3 iPhones and a RAZR on our family plan.
Nevermind, the internet is an amazing thing ;)
call at&t and lie, saying you're a developer of iPhone apps and need to have mms enable for development purposes. i've heard of that working.
Thats funny. News Flash, MMS is not a new cutting edge technology that has the possibility to take down a network. Wait AT&T.................. I stand corrected.
