Yes you can update the carrier file at work. The iPhone will only sync with 1 pc at a time and it warns you if you are going to erase any data. You are not syncing when you update the carrier file.

gotta power cycle your phone if you haven't already. after you do that and if it still doesn't work try resetting your network settings

Will there be an OTA upgrade available? My friend has an iPhone but does not have a PC or Mac. He does not own a computer.

I do not want to install iTunes on my PC just so he can get the upgrade, since I have no use for iTunes.

Did all that and had nothing. But everything is working fine now. I had my wife try sending me one from her phone, and I sent one back with no problems. All hail MMS!

Although the update caused me a few problems with opening up apps, and two restores -- its finally working so I'm happy.

Powercycle means to turn your phone off and then back on. To reset your network setting you will have to go (Setting->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings) hope that helps.

I had MMS, I updated my carrier file myself. Got the official updated from ATT, now it doesn't work! Also no longer have cellular data network option anymore Restarted my phone. Thinking of changing the carrier file back. Also after 3.1 my husband has the option for tethering, and I do not??? Any advice?

Jailbroken 3.1 with 5.5 IPCC still is not working, even after network reset, power cycle, sim removal. I am using TMO as a network, so I know there will be bugs, but I don't get why I still don't fricken have it!

correct me if i am wrong. att ipcc update is for the att carrier so even if you update this on the iphone and are currently using tmobile the phone will work as if nothing happened. tmobile uses the VPN setting in sending out MMS. set that and you should be fine.

so technically tmobile users do not need to update the IPCC file. its no harm if they do though (just incase a att sim is ever used they can send MMS).

so the questions still remains use 5.5 or 6.0??
i hear that there is a 5.5 that is hacked for tethering and should be similiar to the 6.0.. can anyone confirm this?
