    is there something I can use to check what apps are running on my IPhone the battery dies after an hour and it looks like a lot of apps are running also my battery gets hot

    If you're jailbroken, d/l SBSettings and you can go to 'Processes' and see what's running.

    There are no apps that run in the background besides Apple's. Is your iPhone jailbroken? Because if it is, then it might be some of the tweaks that you have installed that are running in the background killing your battery.

    It's not jailbroken but not have done none of the updates for the Iphone

    the phone is less then a year old

    Maybe something as simple as a bad battery. All phone brands can suffer from that ailment.
