I have an iphone 3g, seriously considering an upgrade to the 3gs. Only problem is i have some texts saved that i want to keep, i know they have some programs that you can buy to save them onto your pc, but i want them transferred to my new iphone, is this at all possible? Thanks everyone!

you could copy and paste them to an email. im not sure if you restore the new iphone from a backup if it will transfer them. i want to say yes, but dont quote me on it

I just had to restore my iPhone and when iTunes installed my backup, I still had my saved messages and emails....

Yes you can. It's the same thing if you have a Bold and want to restore your
backup onto an 8900

Yes you can restore from 3G to 3GS.

I did a restore from my itouch 2G to my 3GS yesterday.

another (time consuming) option would be to take screen shots of the sms and email them to yourself.

as others have said it should be restore when you back up the phone.

Also if yours is jailbroken and you have SSH you can save all your SMS's that way.
