What is the coding of the video? HD on an iphone 4 vs a full 13+ inch computer monitor is totally different.

The native resolution of the video for your phone is A LOT smaller than a 1200x800 or up computer monitor

If the video was coded to be HD on an iphone which has a smaller screen and you put it on a bigger one, it will distort.

It would be like taking a normal 4x6 photo and enlarging it to 15x7. You lose quality if the source isn't coded for a larger format.

If it's recording in 720P HD it should be recording in 1280X720, an HD standard. Not just HD on an iPhone.

When u plug in the iphone to ur pc-- in addition to openning itunes, the pc also opens a window similar to when u plug in, say, an sd card, or a drive. You open it up and your photo/video album is there. Just drag the video u want onto ur desktop
