its just a patent, apple has patented numerous things for the iphone, much of which never saw the light of day. hopefully some of these things make it to the next version, but the patent just gives them room to use it if they choose without someone stealing the idea
the only one i think would be really cool would be the haptic feedback. i'm actually really surprised that apple hasnt added this to the iphone before now.
