I do hope it happens, but concept art and design rarely become a reality especially when Apple is concerned.

Look there is just no way that apple is going to make the iphone into a slider. Once again I have to say this, the iphone exists because Steve Job's wanted it. I have been a mac-head for many years and I can almost say for sure that no iphone will ever have a qwerty on it.

I haven't seen a nice slide out keyboard yet. I can see the Iphone having slide out game controls.

    I don't get it?

I can make a really cool phone that everyone would want too. Some nice photo editing, list some cool specs off, give it a new name, so everyone would think it the next best thing.

The date that was posted was before the 3GS even launched too.

I wouldn't mind if they came out with a slider. We all know if Apple makes something it will look good. They have aesthetics down. It won't be clunky or awkward. I it might serve them some good by have 2 new devices together. One full touchscreen and another with some sort of keyboard. For a lot of people a full touchscreen was a deal breaker. Take the best mobile OS and add a physical keyboard, a lot of people will want it. Either way, i'm getting whatever is coming next. Got my upgrades ready to go

yeah, the slide out keyboard just adds bulk, and defeats the purpose of having a touch screen

As long as Jobs is still there I'm confident we will never see a crapboard on the the iPhone thank goodness. If there ever was one iPhone sales would drop 80% (my estimates lol) in it's first year.

That's the exact reason I don't have an iphone. Full touchscreen is a total dealbreaker. I text and email a hundred times more than I talk so the VKB doesnt do it for me... but if the iphone had a physical keyboard... bye bye blackberry.

    Hahahahaha... No.

The iPhone is what it is because of a good product + hype. 80% might be an appropriate number in terms of how much the iPhone actually lived up to said hype.

I would definitely argue that if there were a KB option for an iPhone that sales would increase even over what they are now. I give Verizon credit that they released the Droid and Eris at the same time to give consumers choice.

Bottom line is, that's what consumers want: Choice. Even more so then lower prices. Time and time again it has been shown that consumers will pay top dollar, if a product is to their liking.

The iPhone would be no different. Release the iPhone 3Gx/4G or whatever the **** it's called. Release it in two forms, w/ physical KB and without. If they were also able to release on multiple carriers, they would make a KILLING. Profits would go UP 80%, not down.

Exactly. I don't see how anyone can argue about Apple releasing 2 devices with one having a keyboard. It would help them because all those that just don't go to a touch screen device would now consider an iPhone. It's about appealing to a broader audience. I'd probably have both of them if they came out with 2 devices LOL.

I send an average of 20-50sms and at least 5-10 emails per day. I also IM quite a bit I would say an average of about 30-70 IM's per day. I love to keyboard on the iPhone and I do not miss the qwerty at all. I think it really just comes down to the fact that Job's is not a fan of physical keyboards. Heck I could see them going to an all glass keyboard on the macbook pro before they put a physical keyboard on the iPhone.

Not talking about replace a touchscreen with one with a physical keyboard. Talking about having one in ADDITION to a full touchscreen. Just because some people have adjusted well to the virtual keyboard doesn't mean that there aren't thousand if not millions of people out there that simply will not go to a full touch screen. I don't see what's the big deal with wanting to have BOTH available as options. That can only help apple gain more market share. Period.

This phone wasn't the product of someone's photoshop skills, its a concept device meaning it was actually built.
