hacking iphone 5S touchID - YouTube

I don't think that there is any way to prevent this hack.
So, its not security feature, its a gimmick.
There are numerous ways to hack phones, including passwords. Heck, you can watch someone and get their passwords many times. Are you saying if something is hack able, it is a gimmick? Do you really think people would realistically do this in real world practice? Come on and be real. It is not perfect but neither is a 4 digit password.
Its have been curious to me if the new sensor can be fooled with the classical tape copy of fingerprint.
Many said this will be impossible.
I think that 4 digit password is much harder to hack than fingerprint.
Fingerprints can be obtained from many sources, including phone itself. For passcode you need the person to trust you.
Just recently many articles came claiming security revolution by Apple.
In the comments to these articles, many people suggested exactly the method shown on video. This is a known method and this a reason why any security not relies on fingerprints.
then Blackberry phones are gimmicks too because they are all hackable
is posting this make you feel better or are you just jealous that they sold more phones in 3 days than BB in a year?
Everything is hackable the main question, how much resources, knowledge and time needed for that.
All the talks about BB hack are pointless anyway, because they are not specific.
What can or can't be hacked on BB? BBM? BES? SMS? Getting remote access to file stored?
All the above are distinct things and protected by different methods.
Or look at Android, its not much less secure than any other phone. The main problem is human factor.
If you have read the reports on Android the main threat is phishing, i.e. malicious application which user installs and can't be installed remotely. The same problem is with Windows desktop.
I'm not saying that everything in iPhone is non secure and anyone can put viruses or other voodoo BS.
I'm pointing to very specific thing: FINGERPRINT SCANNER and it seems that it can be bypassed in pretty easy way.
The hack required a 2400 dpi scan of the finger print and a 1200 dpi print with highly accurate latex mold. The general public won't perfect this or use it. A spy, maybe, and maybe a hacker thief. They will both get info other ways if necessary.
My house or car are both hack able in the sense they could be broken into. The question is effort vs difficulty vs risk vs payback.
At least they implemented activation lock, a great protection if someone steals your phone.
Can you respect what I've written?
What is the connection to how many phones they sold or do I like the new iPhone 5s ?
I liked the new iPhone, I was the skeptical about real benefits of 64-bit, but many benchmarks showed that Apple have done it right. I really liked the camera from the beginning and saw the review and it looks really good, both video and photo.
The last thing I was CURIOUS about is fingerprint scanner, they failed to provide serious protection - that's all.
Nevertheless I would not buy it, mainly because I really don't like Apple design.
I'm interested in new technology, and I always take a skeptic look on new tech.
Many times new tech claims are just jokes.
Still its relatively easy for one that want to deal with it, the equipment can be obtained. I believe that there is some method of printing on regular plastic sheet and the do some etching. Any electronics hobbyist know the method.
It's not so much a hack of Touch ID as it is a way to defeat fingerprint scanners in general. Realistically, your average phone thief isn't going to be doing this. It would have to be people that are specifically looking to do this and have all the equipment and time to do it.
Who knows, maybe with the iPhone 6 Apple will debut a retinal scanner that scans your eye. They already like using the word "retina".
