How is the iPhone 4 battery life compared to those of the blackberry (9000, 9700, 9800) ? I'm another bb-user that is very tempted to switch.

compared to the 9000, the i4 wins

compared to the 9700, it's close (i get more usage with the i4, but more standby with the 9700)

compared to the 9800, i'll need more time with it

i'd be looking more so for usage. i'd be using the iphone for music as well. i hear the 9800 battery life isn't better than the 9700.

I am really happy with the battery of this phone. One of my main problems with the Iphone was the battery life. This one could last me all day..... Almost as good as the 9700..considering that it's touch and the display on this phone is AMAZING i am impressed ...Im also using the ip4 more then i did with the 9700... So to conclude this..the battery life is great...see attached pic for prof

Duvi hit the nail on the head. It's better than my 9000, and ALMOST as good as my 9700 and 8900. It may drain 10% faster than my 9700, but that's it.

I'm either doing something wrong or all of you have magical iphone4 batteries... I used to have a 9000, then 9700 and now iphone4...

I use my phones a decent amount everyday and since I dont play any games my usage has been pretty much identical through all 3 phones...

    Here is what i've experienced:

9000: battery usually lasts approx 1 full day, from around 845am till 12am, usually red/yellow battery meter when I plug it in..

9700: I would get 2 days easily out of this phone, there would be times when I forget to charge it after 1 day and the battery would usually last me till 8-9pm the following day, if I'd switch to Edge only this phone would last me 3-4 days...

iPhone4: I need to charge the phone towards the end of my workday (5ish) because im at ~30% and cant afford to have it die out before I make it home at 9ish..(keep in mind im jailbroken, had slightly better battery life before)

fyi: I spend a fair amount of time tweaking all settings to maximize battery life on every phone I own..

In conclusion, id rank them like this: (iphone4 = 9000) < 9700 ... 9700 really was an amazing device as far as battery life is concerned.

If you're running certain background programs on a jailbroken phone, it will decrease battery life significantly. For example, turning on all the eye candy in Winterboard will do it. If you have Ultrasnow 1.0.1, it might do it. Programs that display information on the lockscreen will do it too. If you have any of those installed, try turning them off or uninstalling and see what kind of battery life you get. Ultrasnow 1.1.1 is now available which supposedly fixes battery drain in standby.

My iPhone 4 lasted me all day. It's the best iPhone battery and it's up to par with the 9700. And that's on 3G. WiFi makes it last even longer. With 9800, I'll have to see, just as Duvi. It's working pretty well so far but we'll see after conditioning. Have to take into effect that the screen is bigger than the 9700 but that doesn't excuse the iPhone 4 with better resolution and still lasting quite long.

The majority of my usage is Twitter and texting, BBM if on my Blackberry. Some emails but I'm a college student so I don't get as many as say, a business person or someone that works in the office. I feel with the iPhone 4, you "want" to play with it more, download more apps, etc. etc. so usage by "interest" makes the battery last longer, if that makes sense.

    My .02, lol

I just got my Iphone4 but compared to my 9000 it seems like the the battery isn't as good. I do play a lot more games on the iphone however.

I would imagine it would be better, my sister inlaw has a 3GS, and my brother an S2, and the S2 is only slightly better in the battery life department.

I have a 9700, and a co worker has an Ip4, and he has slightly better battery life than me. I think Apple really focused on good battery life in this phone as so many people with the 3G weren't happy with it.
