iPhone 3GS vs. Tour for IMAP e-mail access (non-Gmail)
Hey Everyone,
I'm ready for a smartphone and am stuck between the 3GS and the Tour. My two main e-mail accounts are separately-hosted domains that I have set up with IMAP folders. This way, at home and at work I can view the same e-mail folders, delete messages, move messages between different folders, etc. Also, I use Outlook 2007 at work to automatically move some incoming e-mails to subfolders.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to have full access to IMAP folder structure on my smartphone (move between folders, read, delete). But I'd settle for full access to just the inbox on each account, if that meant "marked-as-read" and "deleted" sync between work, home, and smartphone.
Which would be the better device to do this? Can anyone explain how these phones work with IMAP? the With the Tour, I would be running BIS, not BES. I have used the search engine and have an idea of how Blackberry/BIS accesses it, and I don't like the current implementation as it appears that it can't access subfolders, and will not show messages marked as read or deleted if that was done on the desktop computer and not the phone.
If the iPhone can do this, will it tell me how many new messages I have in each subfolder?
Many thanks! :)
