I have an Iphone 3gs locked to Telus. Am I able to unlock it and give it to someone in Asia so he/she can use the phone there with their carrier?

I've used mine in japan,turkey,Afghanistan,Iraq,saudia Arabia, Kuwait and I never had any issues yet lol

so the answer is sure. It just costs a lil more

If you're on 3.1.3 (through iTunes) already, it can not be unlocked as of yet.

how do i check the version? mines brand new not activated and is locked. i turn it on it just says insert sim...so i can't go to the 'settings' to check. is there another way?
