    is the 2g EDGE on iphone?
    how does that compare to the EDGE in Blackberries?

    yea i know the iphones have 2g..
    just by looking at the phone .. how can you tell?

    The alunimum back tells you that it is a 2G. Also, the data symbol will show a capital "E"

    EDGE on the iPhone is the same as EDGE on the BlackBerry... it just performs better because the browser is a lot better than the one on the BlackBerry. Wifi is also faster on the iPhone, but that is due to RIM which will soon be corrected.

    EDGE is really 2.75G and not 2G.

    Browsing with edge isn't bad at all. Streaming youtube and downloading apps will take forever, though. Deff use wifi for that.

    how do i tell the difference between the diff generation/variations of iphones. there is 2g (2.75G) and alos 2nd gen.
    i have no idea.. lol
    anyhow was looking at trading one of my extra BB for a iphone. but i dont know how to tell by looking at it if its a 3G or edge iphone.

    only 3 generations of iPhones, but different flavors of each:

    2g has/had 4gb and 8gb
    3g has 8gb and 16gb
    3gS has 16gb and 32gb

    When someone talks about 2g or 2.5g, they are referring to the original, classic, aluminum back device, which only works on EDGE or wifi.

    Hey, glad I found this thread. I found someone who wants to trade me his iPhone 2G for a 8330. I have 3 BlackBerries currently. I think I'm gonna give it a shot.
