Look at the new features - will you use them? Is it worth the cost to you?
I personally won't upgrade. I'd love the faster processor, but I don't think it's worth what it would cost.
The cameras are essentially useless for me and the reduced thickness would be nice, but again not worth me paying for.
The current iPad is basically an a big iPod Touch. iPad 2 is an enormous improvement and has the specs that compete with the tablets that are available today.
Well I would love the camera but thats the only real improvement that makes me wanna jump.
HOWEVER...... not worth buying a whole new IPAD just for that :)
i am not in the least sorry I bought the original. i have had almost a years worth of fun with it!!!!!!!!
Think of the first iPad as the original iPhone. The iPad2 is similar to the 3GS... the next iPad will be what the iPhone4 was on release. If you had the first iPhone, it would be a bigger step to go to iPhone4 than it would be to a 3GS. Not saying the 3GS wasn't good, but the 4 is that much better. I view the iPad2 as a stopgap measure until the next generation in the pipe.
I wonder if there will be some type of slickster deal where you can't save your unlimited plan if you were lucky enough to get it.
Sounds dumb but you never know with Apple.
Wow, I'm glad I sold my 1st gen iPad last week...there are over 10 for sale on my local Craigslist for way below what I sold mine for. Tech forum reading FTW.
Lol I was just looking and saw the same thing here. I find it hilarious but back to the topic I would say its worth the upgrade only if you have the extra money otherwise the camera isn't going to make that big of a difference for most people.

I truly feel that the ipad 2 was designed for the people who skipped the first ipad or have now just decided to buy a tablet. If I were you unless I really need it, I would wait until the ipad 3 because it will probably have way more features and it is rumored to come out this September.
Since I sold my iPad a few days before iPad2 announcement, I have no choice but to get an Ipad 2 LOL
if you sell your 16GB Wi-Fi only ipad, you'll probably get $300 for it.
so it's like paying $200 plus tax for the upgrades. when you get the ipad 2.
so are you comfortable with that number?
i still have my ipad that i got 2nd month from the release last yr.
i guess i'll pass.
I think you've just convinced me. Now my other dilemma is keep my BB9700 or upgrade to iPhone 4
I just got my iPad two weeks ago. I will be returning it to best buy and getting the ipad2 on the 11th. If it wasn't an even swap I wouldn't even bother but I would be pretty dumb not to trade up at no cost.
I just got my IPad a week ago from craigslist. Even trade for my Bold 9650. So far I really like it, I just wished the Bluetooth worked with a wider range of devices.
I would keep the bb 9700 cause the iphone 5 comes out in june. Just 3 more months. Also if you don't like the iphone 5 when they announce it you can get the iphone 4 at a cheaper price, so you would win either way. :D
In every Apple product there is a set of features that's almost perfect, except one missing complement. That complement arrives in the next version, but that version has a new set of features with yet another a missing complement to wait for. It's maddening, but that's how they compel people to upgrade.
It's funny to see Jonny Ive talking about how the iPad 2 is both a complete redesign, and one that would define products for years to come. But guess what, he'll say the same thing when the next one comes out, and I can almost guarantee that you'd be tempted to upgrade again. Right now, I'd wait for Retina display, but when it arrives, I know something else will be missing.
I have owned my iPad since it's release date last Spring, and I enjoy it immensely, however I personally am not jumping to buy the iPad2 at this point.
I do not see enough improvements to buy one, plus I am waiting for the Playbook to actually be released and see then what I think hands on of them both.
List of features iPad 2 is lacking and should have.
1. It should have Thunberbolt.
2. It should have Lithium Titanate battery in it so it can fully recharge in 10 minutes.
3. It should have at least 1TB in storage, which is what high end laptops are carrying.
4. It should be even thinner, about 3-4mm is acceptable. Even better would be if it was foldable.
5. It should be coated in a self-repairing scratch resistant polymer to keep it looking nice and scratch free forever.
6. It should have a Kinect type sensor, but even better, so it can perform actions based on gestures even if you're not touching the device.
7. For security, and to lessen theft, it should incorporate biometrics to activate the device.
8. Retina display is too easy. It should also include a resolution scaling pico-projector so you can display 4K.
The list can go on and on. Saying that the iPad 2 is missing features is like the guy from the 1950's who keeps saying he won't buy a TV unless it has color. Then once color TV comes out, he won't buy one unless it's in 3D. Once 3D comes out, he won't buy one unless it also comes with smellivision. Either the available feature set is good enough and you go and buy one, or not if you don't like it. Waiting for features though, is an endless game, because there's always something new coming down the pike.
