I don't either, the OP was not posting to justify his or her actions to the BB users. And that coming from a retired moderator, you know people switch platforms all the time-BB to android, iOS to BB and so on. If you REALLY didn't care you wouldn't have posted. Meh...time for oatmeal.

Oh really? Well if this forum is just for BB then Kevin needs to remove the subforums for other platforms and let all the other platforms users know that they are not welcome. "welcome to crackberry but only if you have a blackberry!". I read the BB forums but don't comment anymore because I don't have one and I don't care. But all us iPhone owners had better keep our mouths shut because you don't care. And respect is earned, it really is about keeping the peace and not fanning the flames...a moderator should know that.

RESPECT Pete, he is a highly respectable member and knowledgeable as I can see.
So, to gain respect around here, you insult anyone who has a different opinion than you?

If you switched to an iPhone, good for you, no need to come and tell us your lovely story. At the end of the day, this is a BlackBerry dedicated forum

Go play with your toy elsewhere or find some iPhone forum to tell them how your ego grew after you switched from a BB to an iPhone
That is what this sub-forum is. Either your reading comprehension is bad or you just like ignoring the obvious.

There is no need for you to even be here or comment in this section, yet you chose to come here and criticize people. Go back to the BB section if you do not want to read iPhone threads. You are not forced to read these threads.

It looks like are the one with an ego trip. Get the **** over yourself.

whoa guys.... hold the bashing please.

i mean usually i read posts like this to see why people switch... and i do get a good laugh when i see people showing off that they got a new gadget.... i mean who doesn't do that? so guys really no need to start bashing whether you support the change or not... in the end it's just going to be some word exchange left on a public forum.

I switched from a Bold 9000 to an iPhone 3GS. I am happy with the switch, but there are somethings that I miss from my 9000. First is the battery life, the 9000's wasn't great, but it could at least make it through the day. Second is the notification system. I hate watching a video and having a notification come up that I got an email, facebook update, or some other thing that could have waited. Third the fact that I can't have my calendar up on the home screen (I did jailbreak and now have it.). I book officials for youth sports and my calendar is the most important app on the phone. On my Berry I just found a theme that had my calendar info front and center, on the iPhone I have to go into the calendar anytime I want to look at dates and times for upcoming games. This gets to be annoying, and I could have been a big problem. Fourth benefit is no more battery pulls. I was use to it for a long time, but now that I don't have to do them (Impossible with an iPhone I know) it just seems stupid to build an OS to run that way. Finally I do miss a keyboard. I didn't have to focus fully on typing with the Berry.

Some things that are better with Apple is the app system. Whether renting from redbox, watching a movie on Netflix, or managing my ebay or half.com accounts the iPhone does have an app for that. Multimedia is great. I know many of you say that this makes the phone a toy, but it just adds to the overall experience. Finally web browsing that feels like I am on a mini-computer. Jailbreaking an iPhone takes it over the top. I now can customize my theme, and even install other useful apps that Mr. Jobs thought wasn't good enough for his phone.

Each person has different opinions about different phones. I am happy with the iPhone and may upgrade to the iPhone 5 when it comes out, but I wouldn't rule out coming back to Blackberry if they can finally put out a decent phone with a solid OS.

One of the reasons I gave up being a Mod here was that, as a Mod, I felt that I could not ever say exactly what I thought. Even today I mostly keep my thoughts to myself. Once in a while, however, like in this thread, I'll just what I really think.

Crackberry is a BlackBerry forum. I tire of continually reading threads that slag off the BlackBerry. I know that the iPhone has numerical superiority but then so did Ghengis Khan's barbarian hordes.

I do my best to help people who have problems with their BlackBerrys and I enjoy doing that. It is the main reason I come here.

While I can understand how you feel, he posted in the iPhone forum. Yes now there are three threads about this now which is overkill. I had a blackberry, had an opportunity to switch to the iPhone at work so I did. And out of the 8 doctors I report to 6 of them went iPhone and 2 BB. They are specialists/surgeons so I wouldn't say they are carrying around toys. In fact I am anxiously awaiting my playbook, why because I personally feel that the iPad is a big iPhone.

If Kevin does not want iPhone, windows or palm here then get rid of the subforums and make this a BB site only.

I can understand your point. Obviously, you have worked very hard to achieve what appears to be a great measure of success in your life, and enjoying your retirement immensely, which all should have after a life long of hard work.

That is why your first comment above, which would appear to have come from someone a fraction of your age, class and experience, was so surprising.

It's a phone. Apple doesn't pay its users, just like RIM doesn't pay theirs. It's personal preference. This isn't war people, it's simply choice and free will.

On the record, longtime Blackberry loyalist, now using iPhone and have seen no loss in productivity. I have three games on it, everything else is a productive app. It suits my needs quite well, and is a very enjoyable experience.

But I always keep an eye on RIM, and if QNX hits the smartphone, I will definitely take a long look at coming back to the Blackberry fold.

^Well said. Actually Pete I do respect the fact you have the age(not being smart) and experience not to mention the resources to research and use any platform you like. Like I said before I have an iphone and I don't want an ipad simply for what it cannot do whereas the playbook can. I am really looking forward to trying it. I don't really see myself going back to BB for a phone but never say never.

Well, it's actually likely that my next phone will be a WP7 device. I am a big Microsoft fan and I like what I see in the evolution of WP7.

I also have two iPods, one in the Merc and the other I keep for long haul flights - it's an 80Gb device.

I like BlackBerrys a lot but am not wedded to them, just to Mrs. Pete6 .

Pete, I am very anxious to hear your reviews when you do get the WM phone. Please do keep us informed. I have heard some really good things about the new OS for them.
